Indiana University President Michael A. McRobbie issued the following statement upon the IU men's soccer team capturing its ninth national championship in Santa Barbara, Calif.:

"All of us at Indiana University want to offer our wholehearted congratulations to Coach Todd Yeagley and his team for winning IU's ninth national championship, defeating a talented [Akron or Michigan State] team and further solidifying the team's legacy as our nation's most successful and storied collegiate soccer program.

"The team's stellar season, which resulted in a remarkable 20th College Cup appearance, and its thrilling postseason run through the Big Ten and NCAA tournaments, captivated and inspired all of us at the university, who are excited to welcome the College Cup back to its rightful home in the Hoosier state.

"This championship is a testament to the leadership of Coach Todd Yeagley, who has now led IU to two national championships, the work of his staff and the talent, dedication and perseverance of our excellent players, whose successful 'quest for nine' resulted in one of the most memorable seasons ever for IU men's soccer. It also reflects the passion, energy and unwavering commitment of the renowned 'Hoosier Army,' many of whom helped power the team to victory in Santa Barbara, and all of our many fans around the state, nation and world.

"I join the entire IU community in once again congratulating the men's soccer team for a most exciting and extraordinary season and proving, once again, that IU truly is the pinnacle of college soccer."
