On IU Day, the university announced a landmark $20 million gift from Sidney and Lois Eskenazi. Their gift was the largest in the history of the School of Art, Architecture + Design and supports student scholarships, faculty development, various academic programs and additional facilities for the school. In recognition of their generosity and longstanding commitment to IU and the arts, the school was renamed in their honor.

IU President McRobbie presided over the dedication of the Republic Building in Columbus, Indiana, which was designed by renowned Architect Myron Goldsmith. Completed in 1971, the building has received national attention, and it will continue to be celebrated for its new role as the home of the Indiana University's Master of Architecture program in the School of Art, Architecture + Design.
